Congregation Beth Am of Tampa, Florida is dedicated to perpetuating and enhancing the Jewish religion. They foster and teach the ethical principles and moral values of our tradition and of our people. Beth Am provides opportunities for Reform Jewish worship, education, service and fellowship; we pray together, celebrate holidays and simchas together and support each each in times of need.
With a focus on Tikkun Olam, Jewish traditions and community, we become each others extended family. Beth Am welcomes Jewish singles and single parents, interfaith families, Jews by choice, Jewish families from diverse backgrounds and LGBTQ+ community members. Their programs are designed to meet the diverse spiritual religious, educational and social needs of their members.”
The Men’s Club of Congregation Beth Am provides an opportunity for fellowship, spirituality, support and service to the men of the congregation. Some of their events include Sunday breakfasts, bowling, outings to baseball, hockey and football games, the annual JCC softball tournament, guest speakers and game nights. Men’s Club is a proud sponsor of Café’ Shabbat (Beth Am’s award winning monthly Saturday morning program) and coordinate an annual Men’s Club Friday Night Shabbat service.
Through dues and various fundraising projects, Men’s Club donates money to support the Congregation, including donations to the Beth Am Hebrew School scholarship fund, general fund, memorial donations and special projects. Men’s Club provides games and snacks at the Purim Carnival, host an Annual “Latke Bash” for Hebrew school students and monthly hot dog sales that raise money for the Hebrew School Scholarship fund, indoor and outdoor maintenance projects with the Beth Am House Committee and more.
“We have a pretty eclectic group of people from a fairly diverse background“, says Men’s Club President Oren Shahar. “Some of our members are in their 20s and some have grandchildren nearly in their 20s. We do a wide variety of programming from volunteering around the synagogue, Txoko, our cooking club, hot dog sales, bike rides, book clubs, and more. We are also always looking for event ideas to try out new things. We have a wide variety of events coming up almost immediately after the High Holy Days. On October 9th we are building Beth Am’s Sukkah and then having a hot dog sale after Sunday School to provide scholarships for Sunday School. We’ll be tearing down the Sukkah on October 23rd. We are also having our first joint book club meeting with Sisterhood in late October. On November 1st our cooking club, Txoko, is happening.“
