Life is Good in the Temple Beth El Israel Brotherhood

Port St. Lucie is a city on the Atlantic coast of southern Florida. Port St. Lucie is known for it’s Botanical Gardens and Aquatic Preserve featuring areas devoted to orchids and bamboo, native plants, butterflies and hummingbirds, and home to manatees, river otters, egrets and alligators. Port St. Lucie is also the home of the Temple Beth El Israel Brotherhood.

Temple Beth El Israel (TBEI) has served as a “spiritual beacon” for the Treasure Coast Jewish community since 1948. The Temple developed from humble beginnings in the City of Fort Pierce into a congregation now located in Port St. Lucie, one of the fastest growing areas in the nation.

The mission of Temple Beth El Israel is to provide spiritual, social, educational, and community service to the Treasure Coast. They promote the enduring and fundamental principles of Judaism thereby ensuring the continuity of the Jewish people. The Temple functions to enable its adherents to develop a relationship with G-d through communal worship, study, and assembly and to apply the principles of Reform Judaism to the values and conduct of the individual, family, and society.

Life is Good in the Brotherhood

The Brotherhood functions as a support group for Temple Beth El Israel. Members share a common goal of assisting TBEI to grow and develop into a focal point for the Jewish community of St. Lucie County. Brotherhood activities include ushering at High Holy Day services, hosting the annual Yom HaShoah memorial service and distributing Yom HaShoah candles, co-sponsoring fundraising events with the TBEI Sisterhood and hosting a Mother’s Day Brunch for all Temple women, providing gifts for each Bar/Bat Mitzvah, supporting TBEI Religious School events and funding scholarships for confirmation students, and so much more.

The Brotherhood Board of Directors meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm in the Temple Library; all Brotherhood members are invited to attend the Board meetings. Membership Meetings are conducted the third Tuesday of each month, traditionally from September through May.  A light lunch is provided at general meetings and a guest speaker of an interesting and current topic usually addresses the membership. Specific programs are announced in the Shofar and are publicized by e-mail to all Brotherhood members.

The TBEI Brotherhood President Jeff Kreiss invites you to join the Temple Beth El Israel Brotherhood and be one of the guys.
