Temple Shalom is conveniently located in the heart of the Tri-County area, adjacent to The Villages and accessible by golf cart.

For the past several months, the Florida Region of FJMC has been traveling across the Sunshine State and doing outreach to many newly “discovered” Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods. Today we will take a trip to The Villages in Oxford, Florida and shine a spotlight on The Temple Shalom Brotherhood of Central Florida.

Temple Shalom is a dynamic, inclusive Reform congregation that offers a warm and welcome, friendly and nurturing home to all who seek a meaningful and enduring connection to Judaism. They are also the largest Jewish congregation in the Tri-County area (Sumter, Lake and Marion counties) with more than 650 members, including Jews of all backgrounds, ages and levels of observance, including interfaith and GLBT couples, singles and families with children. The annual Temple Shalom Holocaust Remembrance program and community-wide Hanukkah celebrations are among the largest indoor events in the region.

Temple Shalom of Central Florida invites you to find your spiritual, religious, intellectual and social home here, with others who share your values; their vibrant Sisterhood, Brotherhood, Chavurot, Social Action teams and cultural and entertainment events make Temple Shalom the Center of Jewish life in Central Florida.

Life is Good in the Brotherhood

Temple Shalom Brotherhood brings together men of the congregation in social, philanthropic and intellectual pursuits. Brotherhood members volunteer to support temple services, holiday observances and special events. With more than 100 members and an annually elected board, Brotherhood is a vital component of Temple Shalom and the tri-county communities-at-large.

The Brotherhood holds regular Texas Hold’ Em tournaments, bus tours, an annual golf tournament. In addition to their monthly program meetings, the Brotherhood also hosts a Spousal Appreciation Breakfast, an annual Golf tournament and they jointly sponsor a 4th of July indoor picnic with the Sisterhood and a annual Brotherhood Shabbat service. The Brotherhood encourages new ideas, and we strive to meet changing needs, wishes and desires. We invite you to join us, to deepen friendships, enhance your temple experience, and reap the rewards of Brotherhood.

Looking ahead, you are cordially invited to join the Temple Shalom Brotherhood as they set sail on a ten-night Friendship Cruise, December 5 to 15, 2022 on the Celebrity Silhouette as it sets sail from Miami to the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands and St. Marteen. Your trip includes prepaid gratuities, a classic beverage package, unlimited internet, travel protection and a $300/cabin on-board credit.
