The CBI Mitzvah Men’s Club is active in all parts of synagogue life, providing a social, spiritual and educational outlet for all.

Congregation B’nai Israel (CBI) is an egalitarian, Conservative synagogue serving the needs of the diverse, Jewish community of Pinellas County with the distinction of offering the only twice-daily Conservative minyan on Florida’s west coast. The story of Congregation B’nai Israel (CBI) began in 1923 when twelve Jewish families met for services in a rented store in St Petersburg, Florida with Hyman Jacobs serving as first congregation president. Since that time, CBI has grown to over 300 family units spanning four generations.

CBI provides the opportunity to experience Jewish life to its fullest, with a dedication to community and lifelong learning. CBI offers something for everyone, maintaining an engaging schedule of year-round activities and events. At CBI, they know each other, provide support in times of celebration and grief as they share the joys of Jewish worship and learning with family, friends and community. From generation to generation, CBI leaves no one behind.

The CBI Mitzvah Men’s Club is active in all parts of synagogue life, providing a social, spiritual and educational outlet for all. Join the fun year round with events: Building the Sukkah, Reverse Tashlich, Taking down the Sukkah, serving latkes at Hanukkah, Brisket and Bourbon, Men’s Club Shabbat, Annual Passover BBQ, and the annual World Wide Wrap, which offers a unique opportunity to come together in prayer and always draws a crowd.

The Mitzvah Men’s Club began 5784 with an enjoyable “Suds in the Sukkah” program and kicked-off its 2024 programming calendar with a sold-out Brisket and Bourbon event.

On Superbowl Sunday morning February 11, 2024 the Mitzvah Men’s Club will take part in the FJMC World Wide Wrap, an international, coordinated minyan encouraging Jewish men and women to learn about and participate in one of the basic commandments in the Torah: the wrapping of tefillin. Following the prayers a free breakfast will be provided for all attendees as we hear from Neal Solondz about the upcoming Tampa Bay Rays season.

Looking ahead, club President Eric Pastman extends an invitation to one and all to take part in the annual Mitzvah Men’s Club Shabbat, including a delicious Shabbat Dinner on Friday April 5 and Shabbat lunch on Saturday April 6.
