Yiddish Lite is meant for beginners – those who wish to learn a bissele (a little) Yiddish, common words and phrases), a few simple songs that maybe Bubby or Zeyde sang to you, and a vitz (joke) here and there. Participants will come away from each session with a greater appreciation of the Yiddish language and an ever-increasing Yiddish vocabulary, building a glossary of terms as we go along. Yiddish Lite is a delight. Whether you know no Yiddish at all, or who ken redn a bissel — can speak a little — Yiddish Lite is right for you. Please tune in for the next exciting installment of “Yiddish Lite” Tuesday February 11 (and again on February 25) at 8PM EDT; Register at: https://fjmc.org/initiatives/affinity-groups-webinars/yiddish-lite-affinity-group/.
Please tune in on Sunday February 16, 2025 at 7:30pm ET when the FJMC will sponsor a Spotlight Series Webinar “To Laugh! Jewish History Turned Hysterical”, presented by Rob Kutner, five-time-Emmy-winning TV comedy writer (CONAN, The Daily Show), bestselling author (Marvel’s “Ant-Man memoir” Look Out for the Little Guy), semi-learned Jew and Dad of two. Rob Kutner presents his new comedic book The Jews: 5,000 Years and Counting, surveying all of Jewish history — with jokes! From Adam & Eve to Zabar’s, this humorous survey of Jewish history is the most outrageous and unreliable account of the Jewish people’s wanderings since…the Torah. The Jews: 5,000 Years and Counting is packed with Jew-facts, Jew-figures, and the original, never-before-seen documents from those who lived through Jewish history. Covering every major moment in Jewish history from the literal “Beginning” to Tuesday’s rerun of Seinfeld, this book will make you laugh. It might inadvertently make you learn. If you’re Jewish, it will unquestionably give you something to kvetch about. To register for this free Webinar, please visit: https://fjmc.org/events-2/kutner/.

From humble beginnings as the son of immigrant parents growing up in Brooklyn, Holzman paved a path of excellence at every level. From his time in the Navy to breaking into the NBA and his rise through the coaching channels, author Zachter leaves no stone unturned. With interviews with those who played with, against, and for Red, including Bill Bradley, Phil Jackson, Bob Cousy, and Walt “Clyde” Frazier to name a few, the life of a basketball pioneer—one that has since been held quiet—is shared for the first time.
