The Southwest Orlando Jewish Congregation (SOJC) serves the spiritual and social needs of the diverse Jewish community of the greater Orlando area. SOJC offers a meaningful Jewish experience with participatory, energetic and egalitarian services and a robust portfolio of Jewish adult education opportunities, multiple Jewish Youth Groups (3rd-5th grade, 6th-8th grade and 9th-12th grade), as well as monthly social, cultural and community action programs and events.
The Southwest Orlando Jewish Congregation Men’s Club offers its members full slate of programs and activities throughout the year and they want you to join in the fun. SOJC Men’s Club members also know how to pay it forward, share the love and embody the spirit of the mensch – SOJC Men’s Club recently took part in Mitzvah Day, delivering food to the homeless in Orlando.
During February, the SOJC Men’s Club hosted a joint Jewish Bingo Night with the SOJC Sisterhood and a SOJC Family outing to an Orlando Solar Bears hockey game at the Kia Center in Orlando. On Superbowl Sunday, the SOJC Men’s Club took take part in the FJMC World Wide Wrap, an international, coordinated minyan encouraging Jewish men and women to learn about and participate in one of the basic commandments in the Torah: the wrapping of tefillin.
As time marches forward, it is our task to remember and teach about the Shoah. Each year, the SOJC Men’s Club distributes FJMC Shoah Yellow Candles™ to the SOJC family of families. On the night of Yom HaShoah, the candles are lit to shine a light of memory, a light of education, and a light that we will never forget. Participation in this program helps to keep the memory of the Shoah alive and to remember what could happen if we don’t stand up for ourselves. Yom HaShoah begins at sundown Wednesday April 23, 2025 / 27 Nisan 5785. Please join us in a moment of solidarity for our six million brothers and sisters that were lost in the Shoah.
Looking ahead, on Thursday evening April 24, 2025 the Southwest Orlando Jewish Congregation Men’s Club & Sisterhood will jointly sponsor a Trivia Night. Looking ahead, SOJC Men’s Club Shabbat will take place on Friday evening May 9, 2025. Please join with our Men’s Club for a fun and participatory Kabbalat Shabbat service and outstanding oneg in honor or Mothers Day. This will be an evening to remember, be there! The SOJC Men’s Club invite all Florida Men Club and Brotherhood members, their families and friends to meet up for a fun Men’s Club Fishing excursion; more information coming soon.

“Men’s Club’s mission is to bring together the men of the congregation to share in social, cultural, educational, and service-oriented activities and events within the synagogue and the Southwest Orlando community. This mission is accomplished through a combination of social gatherings, leadership, tzedakah, and tikkun olam. SOJC’s Men’s Club meets monthly for a wide spectrum of activities and provides services for SOJC including the provision of ushers and preparation for High Holy Day services, the facilitation of Mitzvah Days on which indoor and outdoor maintenance of the temple grounds is conducted, and the annual construction of the SOJC sukkah. The Men’s Club also coordinates the congregation’s participation in the annual Worldwide Wrap tefillin program conducted simultaneously around the world through the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs. We often meet for lunches, dinners, game nights, and movie nights, and are looking forward to inviting speakers on issues such as home and personal safety, health and fitness, and other quality of life issues to improve our daily lives in the Southwest Orlando community.
