- A message from Florida Region FJMC President Ed Kochman:
ITS OFFICIAL – NEWS RELEASE – FJMC FLORIDA HAS CHOSEN ITS 2025 MA ‘ASIM TOVIM AWARD RECIPIENT
Kol Hakovod!!!! I am pleased to announce that Jonathon Zimmer has been selected to be the 2025 Florida Region Ma Asim Tovim Award Recipient.
I would like to express my thanks to all who voted promptly in unquestionable support of the recommendation. Below is a copy of the recommendation which was reviewed and voted on within the past 24 hours:
“Friends, I would like to float the name of Jonathan Zimmer our EVP for the honor of Ma’Asim Tovim Award Recipient for this Region for the following Reasons:
- Without warning at 7am on Valentines Day, unexpectedly I awoke paralyzed from the waist down and was rushed to the hospital. I was hospitalized for 11 nights and transferred to an acute care rehab center/nursing home for an additional 66 nights; then discharged to 2+ months of home health care (at home nursing twice a week; at home PT 3x a week and at home PT twice a week) all of which tapered off during the third month post “incarceration”.
- Jonathan without hesitation jumped in to take the rains during this time temporarily taking over the Regional Leadership; coordinating with others and keeping us on track.
- During this time Jonathan also single handedly continued to successfully chair our Yellow Candle Program.
- As if this were not enough, he also worked tirelessly to successfully recruit a new Club for the region.
- As if this were not enough Jonathan also continued in his role as Club President continuing to build and introduce new successful programs.
Dayenu!!! any one of the above would have been enough!!!! For these reasons I request that you agree with my personal recommendation For Jon to be our Regional Recipient of the coveted Ma ‘Asim Tovim to be presented next year at the FJMC Convention.
Regarding my personal health situation, as some of you already know, I awoke Valentines Day Morning with highly inflamed lower lumber muscles which were saturated with blood in part from heart medications. It has also been determined that I also suffered a couple of minor strokes which we is presently being addressed by a neurologist. Unfortunately, I have been told that I will have to use a walker or rollator forever. Again, I respectfully request your support of my nomination of Jonathan Zimmer via an email response to me.”
I am now looking for a volunteer to step forward to chair the Regional Ad portion of the FJMC Ad Book for this event demonstrating OUR REGION SUPPORT OF JONATHAN. “
The Ma’asim Tovim award is the highest and most cherished that any Region of the FJMC can bestow upon one of its members. The honor recognizes the significant accomplishments the honoree has made to his Club, his Region, his Synagogue, and the Jewish Community. Jon Zimmer joins a small, but growing fraternity of dedicated volunteers whose efforts and actions have helped to improve our Jewish lives and the world we live in.
