Implementation of a consistent quarterly club contact strategy will help your Region stay abreast of each of your Club's upcoming activities, possible changes in Club leadership contact information or identify and address club leadership succession planning issues.

Congratulations and Kol HaKavod; you have been elected or appointed to serve on your FJMC Regional Executive Board, possibly as a Regional Webmaster or Newsletter editor, Trustee, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, Executive Vice President or even Regional President. What’s next?

Every FJMC Region needs an efficient and effective strategy to keep abreast of the ongoing programs, activities and leadership changes of your respective geographically diverse networks of Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods. This requires a tailored strategy that considers the unique characteristics of each Club, challenges posed by the geographic distance between Clubs and a work around for Clubs that are minimally or non-responsive to emails, texts or telephone calls.

If your Region has a regularly scheduled live or zoom meeting with all of your Club Leaders, then congratulations. If all of your Club Leaders promptly respond to emails, texts and telephone calls in a timely manner then you are fortunate indeed. For everyone else, the following tips and tricks may help you fill in the blanks.

  1. On a quarterly basis, visit each of your Club’s websites to ensure they continue to exist.
  2. Complete each Club’s related synagogue’s webform to be added to their email list and request more information about their Men’s Club or Brotherhood.
  3. Review synagogue leadership “about us” webpages for possible recent changes to Men’s Club or Brotherhood leadership.
  4. Review publicly posted synagogue calendars, weekly bulletins or monthly newsletters for information about recent and upcoming Men’s Club or Brotherhood programs and events.
  5. Search synagogue social media accounts for recent posts with the key words “Men’s Club” or “Brotherhood”.
  6. If all else fails, then telephone the synagogue’s executive director, office administration staff or Rabbi to find out more information about their Men’s Club or Brotherhood.

Most of your Region’s Men’s Clubs or Brotherhoods will be visibly active year round and happy to share information about their upcoming programs and events. However, some clubs operate in stealth mode while others may suffer from a temporary leadership transition crisis. Implementation of a consistent quarterly club contact strategy will help your Region stay abreast of each of your Club’s upcoming activities, possible changes in Club leadership contact information or identify and address club leadership succession planning issues.
