FJMC Sefer Haftarah is a way for your congregation and each person who chants a haftarah to find a greater connection to the text they are chanting by reading it from a handwritten parchment scroll, just as the Torah and all holy books were written in ancient times.
The Sefer Haftarah scroll was created in Israel and contains all Haftorot, including vowels and trope.

The FJMC Sefer Haftarah World Tour is coming soon to a Men’s Club or Brotherhood near you.

The FJMC Sefer Haftarah 2024 / 2025 World Tour began in the Midwest Region of FJMC (serving Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, and Wisconsin), where the scroll was front and center at the 2024 FJMC Shabbaton in Chicago.

Next stop: the New England Region of FJMC (NER FJMC) where the Sefer Haftarah Scroll was front and center at “TheRetreat”, an annual gathering of Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

The FJMC Sefer Haftarah continued its summer sojourn in the New England Region, visiting many Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods throughout NER FJMC, including the Temple Israel (Sharon, MA), B’nai Tikvah (Canton, MA), Temple Aliyah (Needham, MA), Ahavas Achim (Newburyport, MA), Temple Emanuel (Newton, MA), Congregation Or Atid (Wayland, MA) and Temple Israel of Natick (Natick, MA). Looking ahead to August 2024, the FJMC Sefer Haftarah Scroll is scheduled to visit Temple Ner Tamid (Peabody, MA), Congregation Beth Israel (Worcester, MA), Temple Beth Sholom (Framingham, MA) and Minyan Darchei Shalom (Newton, MA).

During September and October 2024, the Sefer Haftarah scroll will circulate across the FJMC Connecticut Valley Region. November and December 2024 will see the Sefer Haftarah scroll visiting the FJMC New York Metro Region, visiting clubs in Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn & Long Island.

Be on the lookout for the Sefer Haftarah scroll at the next meeting of the FJMC Foundation for Jewish Life Rabbi Joel S. Geffen 5785 Leadership Development Institute (LDI), to be held at the Pearlstone Center in Reistertown, MD from Thursday January 30, 2025 to Sunday February 2, 2025.

Looking ahead, the FJMC Sefer Haftarah will tentatively be available to Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods across FJMC Florida Region during the first quarter of 2025, as well as at the FJMC Anshei Darom Region 2025 Retreat, an annual gathering of club leaders from Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. From there, the Sefer Haftarah scroll will travel to the FJMC KIO Region (serving Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan) in advance of the 2025 FJMC International Convention in Chicago.
