- If I had a TARDIS and could travel anywhere in time and space, then where and when would I go? Where else but Sunny Florida in 1960 to read the Winter edition of the National Federation of Jewish Men’s Club’s quarterly newsletter, “The Torch”.
Yes, you heard me right. In 1960 the International Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs (FJMC) was known as the National Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs (NFJMC).
On Page 42 of the 48 page Winter 1960 issue of “The Torch” (Volume XIX, No.1), Convention Committee Chairman (and The Torch Associate Editor) Arthur S. Bruckman Z”L of New York City reported on the 1960 National Federation of Jewish Men’s Club Convention, to be held at the Concord Hotel in Kiamesha Lake, New York from May 8 to 11, 1960.
“The program has been planned to give our men as much free time as possible and at the same time have stimulating sessions and speakers. The theme will be “Living by Spiritual Values.” It is anticipated that the theme will be treated on a personal, national and international level. The proposed program will include breakfast meetings for club presidents as well as for regional officers.“
Speaking of FJMC Convention…. The clock is ticking….. The 2025 FJMC International Convention is just over nine months away. Its time to save the dates and make a plan to blow into the windy city for FJMC Convention.
All Florida Region FJMC clubs are highly encouraged to help sponsor at least two delegates from every Men’s Club and Brotherhood attend to the 2025 FJMC International Convention, Thursday July 3 to Sunday July 6, 2025 in Chicago.
