The sunshine state is blessed to have dozens of dynamic Jewish Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods and the Congregation Beth Shalom (CBS) Brotherhood of Clearwater, Florida is one of the shining jewels of Pinellas County. The CBS Brotherhood also has the distinction of being the home club of Florida Region FJMC Immediate Past President, Blake Lenett.
Congregation Beth Shalom of Clearwater, Florida is an egalitarian Conservative synagogue. Known as as a compassionate, welcoming, inclusive and above all a loving, faith-based Jewish community, people describe CBS as “my family” and “comfortable” as they join together in prayer, song, education, service of the heart and the celebration of life-cycle events in a true feeling of togetherness.
The CBS Brotherhood is made up of a group of individuals dedicated to the growth of our organization and the building of a strong fellowship among the men of CBS. The Brotherhood offers you many ways to participate in strengthening the synagogue and community by mixing opportunities for service with chances for men to interact both socially and spiritually.
The year 2024 began on a high note when David Sadowsky was elected as incoming CBS Brotherhood President, followed by a trip to Aspirations Winery for a tour and tasting experience, participation in the annual FJMC World Wide Wrap, the annual CBS Brotherhood Shabbat weekend, a Hearing Men’s Voices program, distribution of Yom HaShoah Yellow Candles, Brotherhood Movie Night, a CBS Brotherhood Membership Appreciation Luncheon and a Lag B’Omer celebration.
Looking ahead to 5785, the CBS Brotherhood is working behind the scenes to bring a stellar portfolio of exciting programming, including a trip to a Tampa Bay Lightning on December 19, a special Veteran’s Shabbat service on November 9, a night of NHL Hockey for Tampa Bay Lightning Jewish Heritage Night as well as the Brotherhood Annual Fundraiser event, tentatively scheduled for January 5, 2025.
On Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 7:00pm the CBS Brotherhood will present “Defending Israel : Military Innovations of the IDF” featuring guest speaker Dr. Eric Steckler. Save the date, Sunday January 12, 2025 at 7:00pm when the CBS Brotherhood will present “Latest Israeli Innovations in Medical, Agricultural, Green and Consumer Technologies” featuring guest speaker Eric Pastman.
On Superbowl Sunday February 9, 2025 the CBS Brotherhood will take part in the FJMC World Wide Wrap, an international, coordinated minyan encouraging Jewish men and women to learn about and participate in one of the basic commandments in the Torah: the wrapping of tefillin.
