Please tune in on Thursday March 6, 2025, 2025 at 8pm ET when the FJMC Cooking Affinity Group will present "Yes, Soup for You" featuring incoming FJMC Northern NJ Region President Larry Klioze. "There are still cold days and nights ahead and this soup will keep you warm."

Impress your family and friends while celebrating your Jewish identity through the Joy of Soup. I’m not talking about “soup” from a can or a box (yuck). I’m talking serious soup; the kind of soup that just gets better the longer it simmers. Soup can be made of almost anything and everything. Some of my personal favorites include the complex flavors and hearty texture of a good mushroom barley soup like at Ben’s Kosher Deli in Boca, the simple pleasure of Kosher for Passover Matzah Ball soup (the secret to perfectly light balls is seltzer) and zesty bowl of tomato soup and grilled cheese on a rainy day. Soup is good food!

Please tune in on Thursday March 6, 2025, 2025 at 8pm ET when the FJMC Cooking Affinity Group will present “Yes, Soup for You” featuring incoming FJMC Northern NJ Region President Larry Klioze. Larry will demonstrate making an easy but hearty vegetarian vegetable soup and describe variations to the recipe that can adapt it to your tastes and needs. “There are still cold days and nights ahead, and this soup will keep you warm.” To register for this FREE Webinar visit: https://fjmc.org/initiatives/affinity-groups-webinars/cooking-affinity-group/.

Larry Klioze got his love for cooking from his mother, Olive Klioze z”l, who pretty much ran the kitchen at Temple Beth-El in Richmond, VA. Larry started cooking in the Boy Scouts. He earned the Cooking Merit Badge, and once was put in charge of a cooking crew making dinner for the entire Boy Scout Summer Camp. He honed his cooking skills in college at the University of Maryland by cooking his meals in his dorm room using a hot plate, electric frying pan and toaster oven. He was the main cook in his family, and took those skills to the Men’s Club at the Highland Park Conservative Temple – Congregation Anshe Emeth in Highland Park, NJ, where he has won multiple Chili Cook Offs. Larry is a Past President of the Highland Park Conservative Temple – Congregation Anshe Emeth Men’s Club. He has been a member of the Board of Trustees for the Northern New Jersey Region of FJMC since 2016 where he currently serves as the NNJR Executive Vice President. When FJMC started running webinars during the pandemic, Larry volunteered to do a cooking webinar. This will be his fourth such webinar. He also does many other tasks for FJMC including serving on the IT Committee and setting up & sending out those weekly emails giving you the upcoming webinar schedule.
