Congregation Ohev Shalom (COS) Men’s Club of Maitland, Florida supports our synagogue and its membership through fundraising for our youth programs, synagogue service projects and various social functions. Recurring Men’s Club programs and activities include monthly bike rides, an annual Super Bowl Raffle; Men’s Club funds transportation costs for USY and Kadima programs and conventions, hosts Sunday morning breakfast and speaker events, organizes the annual World Wide Wrap and Men’s Club Shabbat programs and distributes Yom Hashoah candles to synagogue members. Men’s Club are always present, ushering for High Holiday and weekly Shabbat services, cooking and serving food for the synagogue’s Chanukah Party and Purim Carnival, providing gifts to our B’nai Mitzvot celebrants that foster their continued involvement, actively participating in Ma’asim Tovim (our synagogue’s social action organization for feeding the homeless).

Congregation Ohev Shalom Men’s Club recently organized a “Men’s Club Get Together“, a night out for new members at Grills Lakeside in Orlando, featuring fresh fish and dairy dishes with waterfront dining. After all, there is no better way to meet people than to share a meal together.
On Superbowl Sunday, the COS Men’s Club took part in the 5785 FJMC World Wide Wrap, an international, coordinated minyan encouraging Jewish men and women to learn about and participate in one of the basic commandments in the Torah: the wrapping of tefillin. Men’s Club also organized the Annual COS Men’s Club Superbowl Raffle Fundraiser.
Looking ahead, the Congregation Ohev Shalom Men’s Club invites you family fun day of professional Hockey on Sunday March 9, 2025 as we celebrate Jewish Heritage Day with the Orlando Solar Bears (at the Kia Center, 400 West Church Street in Orlando), in conjunction with Shalom Orlando and the Gotlib Jewish Academy. Prior to the game, there will be a pregame event and children will be able to participate in a costume parade. Gotlib Jewish Academy will be performing Chag Purim during the intermission. The puck drops at 3pm when the Solar Bears take on the Greenville Swamp Rabbits for an afternoon of non-stop Hockey excitement and everyone is invited for an event of epic proportion. Shushan Purim Shabbat March 15, 2025 aka 15 Adar 5785 will be Congregation Ohev Shalom’s annual Men’s Club Shabbat. Men’s Club Shabbat is an opportunity for Men’s Club members to take part in a participatory and spiritual Shabbat service, followed by an expanded Kiddush and a spirited L’chayim with your Men’s Club brothers from other mothers. During April, the Congregation Ohev Shalom Men’s Club will distribute Shoah Yellow Candles™ to the congregation in advance of Yom Hashoah. On Wednesday Evening, April 23, 2025, Erev Yom HaShoah, the Ohev Shalom family of families will come together as a community to light our Shoah Yellow Candles™ and remember the innocent lives of the Six-Million Jews (and five million others) killed by Nazi atrocities.
