The B'nai Torah Men's Club promotes fellowship and camaraderie among the men of B'nai Torah

There are over a hundred Synagogues, JCC’s, Chavurot, Jewish Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods in the State of Florida and many of them have the same name. Today we will take you on a journey to Palm Beach County, Florida and shine a spotlight on the Congregation B’nai Torah (CBT) Men’s Club of Boca Raton.

B’nai Torah Congregation of is the largest conservative synagogue in Southeast Florida with over 1,000 membership families; a close-knit, multi-generational, modern, egalitarian synagogue with diverse services, programs of worship, learning, tzedakah, meaningful social action and diverse social activities. B’nai Torah also offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities and is a vibrant center for tzedakah acts and projects that touch thousands of people. Join B’nai Torah and get involved.

The B’nai Torah Men’s Club promotes fellowship and camaraderie among the men of B’nai Torah. The Men’s Club sponsors many social and volunteer activities; some events are planned for men only, others are for men with wives, significant others or an invited guest. During the past year, the B’nai Torah Men’s club hosted many well attended programs and events, highlighted by the annual Men’s Club Men’s Club Shabbat weekend featuring scholar in residence Rabbi Dr. Ariel Burger: teacher, writer, and speaker known for his work in Jewish ethics and Holocaust education. He is the author of the book “Witness: Lessons from Elie Wiesel’s Classroom,” based on his experiences as a close student of Elie Wiesel.

In the September 2023 edition of B’nai Torah’s monthly synagogue “Chai Magazine”, Men’s Club President Dr. Elliot Burns reported; “Men’s Club is looking forward to partnering with our schools and other various arms of the MC synagogue to enhance our programming opportunities. We look forward to co- hosting and facilitating with them! Ideas include Happy Hour at local restaurants; bowling and mini golf; FAU basketball and football events; and more! Some events will be just for the adults and others will be special opportunities for the fathers/grandfathers to participate with their children. We are also planning a Miami Dolphins/Miami Heat Watch Party at the Shul with food and snacks. We have lots of fun and exciting programs planned for the whole family! Our Sunday morning Men’s Club Bagel Bites program has been very successful. In July, we were “Up Close and Personal” with Rabbi Epelbaum and in August, we hosted our own Terry Bresnick, retired Lt. Col. of West Point Academy to see a multimedia presentation about Jews at the Academy. Did you know that there are over 100 Jewish Cadets there Men’s Club now? of B’nai Torah Congregation Just recently, our Club joined together with Beth Am in Margate and Temple Torat Emet in Boynton Beach and went by bus to the Jewish Heritage Day at The Miami Marlins Stadium. Over 50 of our extended family South Florida Club members attended. It was very successful…there was a lot of RUACH! Mark your calendar for our Men’s Club/ Women’s League Annual Supper, Sangria, and Scotch in the Sukkah on October 9…Bring your friends and mispachah! At our Bagel Bites Series on January 28th, at 10 am, in the Library, we will be hosting Dr. Bryan Wasserman. His topic will be “Bubbamycin-Jewish Medicine”. Dr Wasserman is currently on the Board of our Congregation and the Chair of the Yiddishe Cup Golf Tournament which will be held on Monday morning, March 4th, at the Boca Grove Country Club. Looking Ahead…Men’s Club will be partnering with our MRS on Sunday morning February 11th at 9:30am for our International FJMC World Wide Wrap (WWW). Last year we had over 100 youth participate! Volunteers will be needed to help our youth learn how to Wrap. Please help..! Men’s Club will sponsor the breakfast.

On February 17, 2024 we will host our 20th Annual Men’s Club Shabbat. Please contact Saul Schildhorn to volunteer for parts in the service, and, any Aliyot that he needs to fill, his email address is shoreflight@yahoo.com
