"Build-A-Pair" for the World Wide Wrap on February 11, 2024

Is your Men’s Club or Brotherhood looking for a fun, multi-generational program that has appeal to a large cross section of your Synagogue membership and will potentially attract many new, younger members? If you said yes then the FJMC “Build-A-Pair” Program and the World Wide Wrap are a win-win.  Learn more about the FJMC “Build-A-Pair” Program at https://www.fjmc.org/build-pair and the World Wide Wrap at www.worldwidewrap.org.

World Wide Wrap 2024

“Build-A-Pair” teaches the joy and mitzvah of tefillin to students and families together in preparation for or in conjunction with your Men’s Club / Brotherhood programming for the World Wide Wrap. The “Build-A-Pair” Program invites 5th to 7th graders to create and put on their handmade “model” tefillin at the World Wide Wrap; therefore the parents are invited to attend this successful Men’s Club / Brotherhood initiative and see their kids in action.  It’s that simple! Build-A-Pair is a fun and educational program for 5th through 7th graders and is an adjunct to the World Wide Wrap.  Students learn about Tefillin, construct ‘model’ Tefillin in which they place Hebrew script which they write, insert ‘straps’, and create ‘wRAP’ songs to sing during the World Wide Wrap.

You don’t need to recreate the wheel – complete “Build-A-Pair” kist are available from the FJMC. Each “Build-A-Pair” kit includes all necessary construction materials for ten (10) students including pre-cut wooden pieces (no woodworking is required); ribbon for straps; glue; measuring jig; ribbon puller; pre-cut ”parchment strips”; and written instructions with pictures and instructional video on CD. Children write their Hebrew Names and the Shema and insert the parchment into model tefillin boxes; then glue, decorate, and insert the ribbon straps, tie knots and start “wrappin.” Complete kits with everything you need, are available from FJMC at https://www.fjmc.org/build-pair-kits.

Supercharge your Men’s Club or Brotherhood with “Build-A-Pair” and the World Wide Wrap and encourage more youth and adults to experience “The Tefillin Experience”. Save the Date on your Men’s Club, Brotherhood, Sisterhood and Synagogue calendars – Superbowl Sunday morning February 11, 2024 – to take part in The FJMC World Wide Wrap and join tens of thousands of Jewish men, women and youth across Florida, the United States and around the world as they gather in Brotherhood to participate in a morning minyan and learn about the wonder and joy of Tefillin.

The World Wide Wrap is an international, coordinated minyan encouraging Jewish men and women to learn about and participate in one of the basic mitzvot, or commandments, in the Torah: the wrapping of tefillin. The Babylonian Talmud (tractate Eruvin 96a-b) tells us that Michal, the daughter of King Saul and first wife of King David, wore tefillin without objection from the sages of her day. Be like Michal; strap on your Tefillin and join the World Wide Wrap.
