Who is the Keeper of the Flame? The Keeper of the Flame is a person who illuminates the darkness and inspires others to keep the fires burning. The Keeper of the Flame Award – Your Men’s Club Man of the Year – is the highest recognition a Men’s Club can give to one of its members.  In 2015 the Florida Region expanded the program to include Youth of the Year Award, based on youth recommended by a club’s Rabbis or school administrators.

Every Men’s Club in the Florida Region has an annual opportunity to honor YOUR Men’s Club Keeper of the Flame – YOUR Man of the Year and Youth of the Year – for their leadership and participation within your Men’s Club, your Temple, your Region and greater Jewish Community.

Recognition and reward are keys to making a volunteer organization work. Hosting a Man of the Year event recognizes and rewards volunteers in YOUR Men’s Club and/or synagogue whose efforts have contributed to building Jewish community and invigorating Jewish life. Once an individual becomes a Man of the Year (or Youth of the Year) it becomes a lifetime honor. The memory of being recognized at a large festive dinner, among your most enthusiastic friends, family and supporters, in front of a crowd of “big machers”, can make a lasting impression.

The Florida Region of the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs is in the early planning stages of working with each of our affiliated Men’s Clubs to help organize a Keeper of the Flame / Man of the Year event in every corner of the State of Florida during 2022 and 2023 because every Men’s Club that survived 2020 and 2021 deserves a reason to celebrate.  Stay tuned for more information, coming soon.

The Florida Region of FJMC serves the needs of Jewish Men’s Clubs across the State of Florida from the Panhandle to Miami.  If your Men’s Club is not yet affiliated with the Federation, then today is the day to join us.  Get to know more about the FJMC Florida Region and our growing statewide network of dynamic Men’s Clubs at www.floridaregionfjmc.org and please visit our Florida Region FJMC Facebook Group at  https://www.facebook.com/FloridaRegionFJMC
