On Sunday March 27, the Men’s Club of Temple Torat Emet of Boynton Beach in partnership with our Sisterhood will host a special presentation by Marcia Jo Zerivitz, founding Executive Director of Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU about the “History of the Jews of Florida”.

It’s all about roots and memories and Jewish continuity. Like cut flowers, Jews wither without roots. Our collective memories are our roots.

This first comprehensive history of the Jews of Florida from colonial times to the present is a sweeping tapestry of voices spanning centuries. Despite not being officially allowed to live in Florida until 1763, Jewish immigrants escaping expulsions and exclusions were among the earliest settlers and were probably here as conversos in the 16th century.

Jewish men and women have been integral to every area of Florida’s growth, from tilling the land and developing early communities to boosting tourism and ultimately pushing mankind into space.

The sunshine State’s Jews, working for the common good, have been Olympians, Nobel Prize winners, computer pioneers, educators, politicians, leaders in business and the arts and more, while maintaining their heritage to help ensure Jewish continuity for future generations.

This program will be hosted on ZOOM and YOU are cordially invited to join us on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at 11am – LIVE on ZOOM on the link below:
