The Florida Region of FJMC entered the year 2022 with a challenge to move forward, look ahead and dream big. We began by expanding the Regional Executive Board, enlisting the services of a new webmaster. With his assistance, we redesigned the FloridaRegionFJMC.org website and social media presence from a static page with stale content into a dynamic news magazine with an emphasis on timely reporting on the activities of our affiliated Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods throughout Florida.

We created a series of new statewide initiatives like Choose Shabbat as well as a repository of fresh, new club training materials on hot topics like succession planning, member mobilization, branding, effective use of social media, how to attract and retain younger members, etc. www.FloridaRegionFJMC.org and  www.facebook.com/FloridaRegionFJMC are updated with fresh, new and relevant content almost daily; please bookmark our website and visit often.

Golf anyone?

Florida Region leadership began to reach out to our club leaders around the state and successfully seeded several multi-club events including a golf tournament, a deep sea drift fishing trip, a Florida Region Football Pool and Jewish Heritage Day at the Florida Marlins on August 14.

Region President Blake Lenett and his executive board officers began a series of coordinated Club visitations, with a goal of direct, face to face interaction with every affiliated Florida Region FJMC Men’s Club and Brotherhood over the next year. We also scheduled a series of quarterly, live, regional Director’s meetings and club training programs in different parts of the state, bringing the Florida Region to a Men’s Club or Brotherhood near you.

Florida Region FJMC undertook a self examination of the wording of our mission statement and regional Bylaws and drafted proposed changes, to be on the agenda at the next Florida Regional Directors meeting and club training on Sunday August 28, 2022 at Congregation Ohev Shalom in Maitland Florida.  All Florida Region Men’s Club and Brotherhood Presidents are voting Directors and are encouraged to attend this important meeting.

Looking ahead, Florida Region FJMC will host a Men’s Club Weekend Ruach Retreat the weekend of October 21 to 23, 2022 at the Embassy Suites in North Palm Beach, Florida. This event is an opportunity for Men’s Club and Brotherhood members from across Florida to gather together, celebrate, eat, drink and learn together. We are also planning Florida Region Hockey Night Out on December 15 at the Tampa Bay Lightning and a Chanukah event on December 21 with the Panthers.

Florida Region FJMC is also working behind the scenes to identify and establish contact with dozens of new, unaffiliated Conservative, Reform, Orthodox, Reconstructionist and unlabeled Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods across Florida, and we are proud to announce that the Temple Beth Torah Brotherhood of Wellington Florida has voted to apply for FJMC membership, making them the newest member of Florida Region FJMC.

Looking ahead to 2023, all affiliated Florida Region FJMC Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods are highly encouraged to send at least two delegates to FJMC Convention 2023, especially your current and incoming President and Executive Vice President (EVP). Florida Region FJMC recently approved regional subsidies of $500 per person for first time attendees and $300 per person for repeat attendees, to help to cover the bulk of the cost of sending YOUR affiliated Florida Men’s Club and Brotherhood members to FJMC Convention 2023. Additional funding may be available through your Rabbi’s discretionary fund. Cost should not be an impediment to attending.

The Florida Region of FJMC serves the needs of Jewish Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods throughout the State of Florida from the Panhandle to Miami. Our mission is to involve Jewish Men in Jewish Life by fostering fellowship and camaraderie between Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods in the Florida Region, inspiring interest and involvement in Jewish worship, Jewish studies, Tikkun Olam and ensuring the success of new and existing leaders of our Florida Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods.

If you are not yet affiliated with the Federation, then today is the day to join us.
