This post is part of a series highlighting the events and activities that took place at the FJMC Biennial Convention in Philadelphia, PA.

Greetings from Philadelphia Marriott, the host venue of the 2023 FJMC Biennial Convention. Over the next few days, over 400 leaders of Jewish Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods from across the United States, Canada and Latin America will gather for four days of fun and frivolity, passionate davening and Jewish learning, club and leadership training, inspiring keynote speakers and more. The full Convention agenda will include two days of pre-convention business meetings and family programming, followed by four days of Convention programs and activities.

The first day of pre-convention and family programing began with a “Chai”; 18 holes of championship golf at the Radnor Valley Country Club (RVCC), one of the Philadelphia region’s hidden gems. RVCC is an immaculately manicured, championship course offering superb routing, dramatic elevation changes, challenging greens, water features and tees for players of all abilities.

The afternoon continued with video recording sessions from various Regional Ma’asim Tovim award honorees. The Ma’asim Tovim Award is the highest recognition an FJMC Region can give to one of its members, usually given to individuals who have worked on behalf of the Region for many years.

Tuesday’s agenda concluded with a sunset boat cruise on Patriot Harbor Lines for Philadelphia’s “ultimate harbor cruise and river tour”, sailing from the Independence Seaport Museum at Penn’s Landing.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, Wednesday morning’s agenda includes a choice of two docent led pre-convention tours; the Weitsman National Museum of American Jewish History & Mikveh Israel and the Simeone Foundation Automobile Museum. Wednesday afternoon tours include an outing to Philadelphia’s “Magic Gardens” and a Historically Hilarious BYOB Open Air Trolley Tour of Philadelphia. The fun continues Wednesday evening with an exclusive dinner at Zahav Restaurant, recipient of the James Bear Award as the best restaurant in the US, as well as a performance by comedian and ventriloquist John Pizzi and a whiskey tasting from Milk & Honey Whisky Distillery, Israel’s first whisky distillery.
