The Florida Region of the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs (FJMC) entered the year 5783 (Rosh Hashanah 2022) with a challenge to move forward, look ahead and dream big. We started with a dynamically redesigned FloridaRegionFJMC.org website and an increasingly active social media presence, providing timely reporting on FJMC programs as well as the activities of affiliated Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods throughout Florida.

During the past 12 months (September 1, 2022 to date), your faithful webmaster generated over 190 individual web posts on a wide variety topics of interest to Jewish Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods in Florida, including a recurring series of Jewish learning posts, a weekly “Choose Shabbat” post about the weeks Torah portion, a series of “Spotlight On” articles about our FJMC club leaders and the activities of affiliated Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods in Florida and daily *live* reports from the floor of FJMC Biennial Convention in Philadelphia (*no posting was done on Shabbos*).

Over the past year, the Florida Region of FJMC provided multiple opportunities for our club members and leaders to attend FJMC and regional sponsored training including the Joel S Geffen Institute, two half-day regional club training sessions in Florida and a Men’s Club / Brotherhood “Weekend Ruach Retreat” in Palm Beach Gardens. and created a repository of fresh, new club training materials on hot topics like succession planning, member mobilization, branding, effective use of social media and how to attract and retain younger members. We facilitated multi-club professional sports outings / social events with Tampa Bay Rays, the Miami Marlins and the Florida Panthers.

Florida Region FJMC began Summer 2023 by electing a new Regional Executive Board, installing Ed Kochman as (2023-2025) Florida Region FJMC President. We also welcomed a new club, the Temple Beth Torah Brotherhood of Wellington Florida.

Looking ahead to 5784, Florida Region FJMC is working for you to help plan and organize a schedule of statewide programs and initiatives in connection with Kristallnacht and Yom Hashoah, the FJMC World Wide Wrap and Men’s Club Shabbat, a series of Man (and Youth) of the Year celebrations throughout the State and of course, the 2024 Men’s Club is Brotherhood Weekend Ruach Retreat.

Over the next 12 months, your new Florida Region FJMC President Ed Kochman and his team of executive board officers will begin a series of coordinated club visitations with a goal of direct, face to face interaction with every affiliated Florida Region FJMC Men’s Club and Brotherhood. Florida Region FJMC will also be scheduling a series of quarterly, live, regional Director’s meetings and club training programs in different parts of the state, bringing the full resources of Florida Region FJMC to a Men’s Club or Brotherhood near you.

This message is brought to you by the Florida Region of the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs. We are part of a confederation of over 200 Jewish Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods representing over 20,000 members across the United States, Canada, Latin America, and beyond.
