Temple Beth Am is an egalitarian conservative synagogue serving northwest Broward County, a vibrant spiritual center for Conservative Judaism and a dynamic environment where the spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of our members can be met. Beth Am is a spiritual home wherein a Jewish path can begin or continue in the company of a caring and loving community. The atmosphere is open, the journey engaging and the community supportive. Beth Am celebrates Torah and the traditions of Jewish living by providing a spiritual and religious experience, engaging our members in lifelong education, and taking an active role in community activities. Since it’s beginings in 1959, Beth Am has been, and is a Kehillah Kedosha, a sacred and caring community offering activities for all ages. They welcome families of all backgrounds including interfaith and same-sex marriages and strongly in making a difference in each member’s life, in the larger community, in Israel and in our world.

The Men’s Club at Temple Beth Am presents a unique and timely opportunity to generate new friendships, rekindle old ones, deepen existing friendships and to develop an exciting, rewarding and very special Jewish Community among other MEN in our shul. We provide fun and dynamic social, athletic and tikkun olam opportunities to come together by combining non shul based activities, with a Jewish component.

The Temple Beth Am Men’s Club offers all adult male members an opportunity to establish life-long friendships and offer a broad range of programming and activities including Trivia Night, Karaoke. Sporting Event Trips (Marlins, Panthers, Dolphins), Sunday Speaker Series and much more. Our Men’s Club also helps support the Temple through various fundraising activities including running Monday night Bingo and seasonal raffles. We invite all male members of Temple Beth Am to attend our events and become members of the Men’s Club. Join us; we need your help and welcome the opportunity to become friends, or better friends.

Club President Larry Schwartz offers a summary of what his Men’s Club has done over the last calendar programming year.

Temple Beth Am Men’s Club President Larry Schwartz takes the pitchers mound, delivering the opening pitch ball and rosin bag

We started with our annual football pool, Jewish Heritage Celebration baseball game and, of course, our annual Back to Shul BBQ. Other events we ran included Trivia Night, Karaoke, Super Bowl Squares contest and the World Wide Wrap. Our Sunday Speaker Series speakers continued this year with Art Shamsky, who spoke about his baseball career and signed autographs. We can’t forget our popular Men’s Club Concert offering this year, The Motowners, where one hundred twenty people danced and sang to Motown classics? In August, we held our third annual Back to Shul BBQ as part of a Temple Open House event. The following week was the 2023 Miami Marlins “Jewish Heritage Celebration” game against the Washington Nationals, where nearly a hundred Men’s Club and Brotherhood members and families from across south Florida had a chance to show their Florida Region FJMC colors (orange) and see yours truly take the pitchers mound, delivering the opening pitch ball and rosin bag. I’m looking forward to seeing most if not all of you at our upcoming events throughout the year. Until next time, I remain gratefully yours to be a part of the TBA family.

The Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs was the group of the day.
