FJMC Affiliated Men's Club & Brotherhood members have access to #FJMC Club and Leadership Training opportunities.

This webpost highlights ideas discussed and exchanged on February 18, 2024 at a Florida Region FJMC Club training in West Palm Beach. Florida Region FJMC plans to offer additional live Club training programs in other geographic areas of Florida in order to further support our network of affiliated Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods, our club leaders and their efforts. For more information about how Florida Region FJMC can bring a training program like this to your affiliated Men’s Club or Brotherhood, please email Florida Region FJMC President Ed Kochman at EKochman@FJMC.org.

Three of the most tangible benefits of affiliation with the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs (FJMC) are (1) direct access to hands-on training for your Men’s Club and Brotherhood members and leadership, (2) a nationwide network of Regional Consultants and (3) a robust portfolio of original FJMC Club Member and Leadership training resources.

On February 18, 2024, Florida Region FJMC brought these elements together at a Regional Club Training program; many thanks to President Sol Beck of Temple Beth El Men’s Club in West Palm Beach for hosting our first face-to-face Florida Region FJMC Club training of 2024 in South Florida. With the assistance of Florida Region FJMC President Ed Kochman and FJMC International Secretary and Chair of Web Design, the program was also livestreamed / recorded, making it available to every FJMC affiliated Men’s Club and Brotherhood across the entire FJMC organization. The FJMC will be posting a recording of the session their YouTube channel shortly.

Nearly two dozen leaders of Florida Region FJMC Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods were in attendance for a half day of learning, round table discussions and training. Live attendees included FJMC International Executive Vice President Bruce Tomar, FJMC International Vice President of Regions Marc Cohen, past FJMC International President Allan Gottesman , past Florida Region FJMC Presidents Blake Lenett and Elliott Davis, Florida Region Executive Vice President Jonathan Zimmer, Regional Treasurer Moshe Adler, Regional Recording Secretary Eric Perlman, Florida Region FJMC Presidential Appointees Jason Waksman and Meir Niad, and Regional Webmaster Richard Nebb.

The morning began with greetings from Florida Region FJMC Spiritual/Rabbinic Advisor Rabbi Michael Klein of Temple Torat Emet, Boynton Beach delivering an inspiring D’var Torah, followed by welcoming remarks and introductions by Florida Region FJMC President Ed Kochman (via Zoom) and Florida Region FJMC Executive Vice President Jon Zimmer (live) and presentation of an official “FJMC Regional Past President” Tallit to Blake Lenett by Bruce Tomar, Marc Cohen Jonathan Zimmer.

The club training program agenda started with an informative presentation on “Attracting New Members” facilitated by Jason Waksman, followed by Regional EVP Jonathan Zimmer discussing “Why and How to run a Successful Yom HaShoah / Yellow Candle Program”, a “Playbook for Organizing your Club’s Annual Program Calendar” and “Succession Planning for Success” led by FJMC International VP of Regions Marc Cohen as well as a presentation about “Club Consultants 311” by Florida Region FJMC Past President Elliott Davis. The half-day training program concluded with a Q&A on the presented topics.

Looking ahead to 2024 and beyond, Florida Region FJMC is in the early planning phase for a 2024 Men’s Club is Brotherhood Ruach Retreat Shabbaton weekend, a Florida Region FJMC outing to the Miami Marlins Jewish Community Celebration at loanDepot park (Sunday, August 25, 2024), as well as the possible return of “live” Man of the Year / Youth of the Year celebrations in Florida. All Florida Region Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods are also invited to join the Florida Region FJMC delegation to FJMC Convention 2025 in Chicago; for the latest update on FJMC Convention 2025 visit: https://convention.fjmc.org/.
