Temple Beth Am of Margate, Florida is an egalitarian conservative synagogue serving northwest Broward County. Temple Beth Am is also a Kehillah Kedosha, a sacred and caring community offering activities for all ages, welcoming families of all backgrounds including interfaith and same-sex marriages, making a difference in each member’s life, in the larger community, in Israel and in our world. Beth Am celebrates Torah and the traditions of Jewish living by providing a spiritual and religious experience, engaging members in lifelong education and taking an active role in community activities.
The Temple Beth Am Men’s Club offers an opportunity to establish life-long friendships and offer a broad range of programming and activities including Trivia Night, Karaoke. Sporting Event Trips (Marlins, Panthers, Dolphins), Sunday Speaker Series and much more. The Men’s Club also helps support the Temple through various fundraising activities including running Monday night Bingo and seasonal raffles. Club President Larry Schwartz invites all male members of Temple Beth Am to become members of the Men’s Club; “Join us; we need your help and welcome the opportunity to become friends, or better friends.”
The Beth Am Men’s Club kicked off it’s 5783/5784 programming calendar with its third annual Back to Shul BBQ as part of a Temple Open House event. The following week was the 2023 Miami Marlins “Jewish Heritage Celebration” game against the Washington Nationals, where nearly a hundred Men’s Club and Brotherhood members and families from across south Florida had a chance to show their Florida Region FJMC colors (orange) and see Men’s Club President Larry Schwartz take the pitchers mound, delivering the opening pitch ball and rosin bag.
Over the past six months the Temple Beth Am Men’s Club organized many fun and well attended activities including a four-hour fishing adventure aboard the 101 foot Starlight 101, Karaoke night, a Super Bowl Squares contest and the FJMC World Wide Wrap. A highlight of the Men’s Club Sunday Speaker Series speakers was breakfast with Major League Baseball legend Art Shamsky, member of the ‘Miracle Mets’ that won the 1969 World Championship. Art spoke about his baseball career and signed autographs.
During October the Temple Beth Am Men’s Club hosted a very successful Trivia Night in the social hall; over 25 people came to test their skills on entertainment. In November Men’s Club took a trip to the Red Button Escape Room and “tried” to find clues that would allow us to escape the room within the allotted time. During December, the Temple Beth Am Men’s Club was loud and proud for Chanukah Hockey Night Out with the Florida Panthers vs. the Dallas Stars at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida. January 2024 included the annual Beth Am Men’s Club Concert featuring “Naturally Diamond”, a Neil Diamond Tribute Band. Men’s Club activities in February 2024 included the FJMC World Wide Wrap, Trivia Night at the Pompano Beach Brewery and a Movie Night at Beth Am featuring popcorn, drinks and a private screening of “A League of Their Own” starring Tom Hanks and Geena Davis.
The Temple Beth Am Men’s Club will host its annual “Men’s Club Shabbat” service on Saturday Morning, March 16, 2024, with a sweet L’chaim and delicious Kiddush luncheon to follow. On Sunday April 14 the Temple Beth Am Men’s Club invites you to a fun evening of Karaoke.
Looking ahead, the Temple Beth Am Men’s Club will distribute Shoah Yellow Candles in advance of the observance of Yom HaShoah 5784, which begins at sundown on Sunday evening May 5, 2024.
