The Temple Beth Torah Sha’aray Tzedek’s (TBTST) Men’s Club welcomes men of all ages to share their many talents. As an active part of the synagogue, Men’s Club provides camaraderie, activities, events, and fellowship for men of all ages. The goal of the TBTST Men’s Club is to increase connections (both spiritual and social) between the men in the TBTST family, as well as to create an atmosphere that encourages the interactions between the TBTST men and their children.
Recent TBTST Men’s Club programs and events included participation in the 5785 FJMC World Wide Wrap, hosting the FJMC Sefer Haftarah and distribution of FJMC Shoah Yellow Candles™. Other programs of note included an evening of Miniature Golf at Monster Golf in Coral Springs, a presentation on “The Jews of Argentina” featuring subject matter expert Helene Herman who discussed the history, culture and current status of the Jews of Argentina, home to the largest Jewish population of any country in Latin America and the 6th largest Jewish Community in the world. Over 40 people were in attendance, including many new visitors!
In the May-June 2025 issue of ‘The Scroll‘, TBTST’s quarterly synagogue newsletter, Men’s Club President Larry Gerson posted; “With the May/June edition of THE SCROLL, we transition to a slower time of the year; however, program planning continues for the Fall season. We would like to remind our Synagogue family that our programs are open to ALL Synagogue members. In addition, we have a members business meeting monthly on the third Thursday evening at 7:00 PM at the Synagogue. Sometimes schedule changes are necessary in which case an email goes to all families from the office. We encourage all male Synagogue members, if available, to join us for the monthly meetings. Those who haven’t joined as yet, please consider. The annual dues is $36.00”.
Summer 2025 began on a high note when the Temple Beth Torah Sha’aray Tzedek Men’s Club was honored to receive two FJMC Torch Award certificates (in recognition outstanding World Wide Wrap and Shoah Yellow Candle programing), presented at the 2025 FJMC International Biennial Convention in Chicago.
Looking ahead, Club President Larry Gerson reports the Temple Beth Torah Sha’aray Tzedek Men’s Club is primed for a full year of enriching experiences, social nights of fun, food and friendship, beginning on Sunday September 14 for Jewish Heritage Day at LoanDepot Park aka Marlins Park when the Miami Marlins take on the Detroit Tigers. This is an opportunity for our Synagogue to join others on this special day for the Jewish Communities of Broward, Miami Dade, and Palm Beach counties.
The TBTST Men’s Club fall kickoff event will take place on Sunday October 19 when Helene Herman will give us a presentation about “Russia, Beyond ‘the Pale’ Medieval, Imperial and Soviet Empire”. With so many of us having Russian roots, this should be a very interesting program. Also, please save the date – Saturday November 8 – for our annual Men’s Club Shabbat honoring ALL Veterans.
