- Temple Beth Sholom: Keeping Brevard County Jewish since 1955 when they were known as the Brevard Jewish Brotherhood. The congregation began to self-identify as Temple Beth Sholom as early as 1959 and officially changed their name to Temple Beth Sholom in 1964.
The Temple Beth Sholom Men’s Club is focused on promoting Judaism and family activities in today’s busy, hectic, competitive world, performing service activities for TBS and the community at large, educating our youth and ourselves about our holidays, rituals, faith and having fun. As they look ahead to 2025 and beyond, the Temple Beth Sholom Men’s Club is eager to build on the hard work of past leaders and members.
As per Club President David Scholl, “the TBS Men’s Club will co-sponsor certain activities with our Sisterhood and continue the successful programs of past years. We’d love to get more men from all age groups involved. Most of us are very busy with other important obligations, so we need compelling, fun programs to draw in and motivate a strong base of men. It all begins with energy and involvement from our members. We are putting together the calendar of programs and events for the upcoming year and need your ideas and support to be successful. Please share your ideas at mensclub@mytbs.org or discuss them with members of the Leadership Board.”
Recent Temple Beth Sholom Men’s Club programs and events of note included participation in the 5785 FJMC World Wide Wrap, hosting the FJMC Sefer Haftarah and distribution of FJMC Shoah Yellow Candles™. Other Men’s Club programs included fun afternoon of grilling and chilling for Flip-Flop Shabbat, a guided morning walking tour of the Turkey Creek Sanctuary in Palm Bay and an afternoon of “Jews and Brews at the Intracoastal”, a local microbrewery focused on bringing an ever-rotating cycle of quality beers to Brevard County.
Looking ahead to 5786, the David Scholl and the Temple Beth Sholom Men’s Club are currently finalizing their upcoming program schedule for the coming year. Some of Men’s Club’s planned activities will tentatively include High Holiday Ushering, participation in Temple Beth Sholom’s Mitzvah Day Temple beautification program, a Bowling night out and several NFL Football viewing / watch parties where we can grunt, cheer, eat food and drink beer (not necessarily in that order). Save the date – tentatively Sunday morning November 9 – for a special Kristallnacht themed breakfast program featuring guest speaker Mike Marcus. More information on these and other programs coming soon.
