The Temple Beth Torah Brotherhood’s mission is to promote an ongoing relationship with G-d, Torah, Israel and the Jewish people through worship, study, culture and Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), L’dor V’Dor (from generation to generation), with special emphasis on our youth as the path to the future. The TBT Brotherhood sponsors numerous social and volunteer activities during the year, ranging from events centered exclusively on the male members of the Temple, but also in conjunction with the temple’s Sisterhood.
Recent TBT Brotherhood events include a monthly “Bros Night Out” program and a successful No-Limit Texas Hold’em Charity Poker Tournament, with net proceeds supporting the Temple Beth Torah Brotherhood Student Scholarship Fund. Brotherhood members also took an active role at ShabbatFest at the Wellington Amphitheater, the annual TBT Purim Carnival, Mitzvah Day and “ShaBBQ”.
In the June/July edition of Temple Beth Torah’s SHALOM Newsletter, Brotherhood President Paul Gaba posted:
“As we close out 2024-25, we look back at a slew of exciting programs in which your Temple Beth Torah Brotherhood has been active and involved, all of which projects to an amazing 2025-26. In April your Brotherhood hosted its first-ever Men’s Seder, which saw 18 members celebrating the holiday with an amended Haggadah and a catered meal (complete with Kosher-for-Passover bourbon). Your Brotherhood also displayed memorial candles at Temple Beth Torah for Yom HaShoah. A month later, Brotherhood hosted its annual Brotherhood Shabbat/High School Graduation Shabbat, where scholarships and gifts were presented to members of the Class of 2025. In addition, the Bros Night Out tradition continued with several social get-togethers at area restaurants, including Casa Tequila in advance of Cinco de Mayo (but with no mariachi band this year). We are also starting to plan out our schedule of events for this fall, which is certain to include plenty of additional Bros Night Out socials, constructing the sukkah, attending some sporting events, and having an all-around great time with our fellow Brotherhood members.“
Summer 2025 began on a high note at the FJMC International Biennial Convention when the Temple Beth Torah Brotherhood was presented an FJMC Torch Award Certificate for outstanding Men’s Club Fundraising programming. Kol HaKavod and Yasher Koach to the Temple Beth Torah Brotherhood on this well deserved honor The Brotherhood also engaged in succession planning when the baton of leadership was passed from Paul Gaba to incoming Brotherhood President Corey Kanternam.
