Florida Region FJMC Treasurer & Temple Beth El Men's Club Past President Moshe Adler (L) and Rabbi Alan Bell (R) of Temple Beth El WPB with the FJMC Sefer Haftarah Scroll

The Temple Beth El Men’s Club of West Palm Beach celebrated Men’s Club Shabbat 2026 on Shabbat HaChodesh 5786. The event included presentation of the Man of the Year Award by Beth El Men’s Club President Jack Meyer to past Men’s Club President Sol Beck and featured guest speaker Igal Zaidenstein, President and Founder of Friends of Israeli Intelligence, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to strengthening and supporting the people, institutions, and legacy of Israel’s intelligence community including Mossad, Shin Bet, and Military Intelligence, the very heart of Israel’s defense. Temple Beth El Men’s Club Shabbat also included a reading from the FJMC Sefer Haftarah scroll by long-time Men’s Club member and supporter Robert (Bob) Finkelstein.

The FJMC Sefer Haftarah Scroll contains a collection of every Haftarah read during the year, including those from holidays and Rosh Chodesh. Since it was first unveiled during the 2003 FJMC Biennial Convention in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, the FJMC Sefer Haftarah scroll has travelled around North America to Men’s Clubs and Brotherhoods, to regional retreats and to FJMC conventions., visiting synagogues from West Coast to East Coast, from Florida to Canada. At services, it is treated very much like a Torah. It is housed in the Ark, undressed and redressed like a Torah, and carried around the congregation in the Torah procession. In celebration of their 100th anniversary, Temple Beth El WPB has commissioned their very own Sefer Haftarah Scroll, offering the entire Jewish community an opportunity to take part in a sacred journey that honors our past and inspires our future. The Beth El Sefer Haftarah scroll will serve as both a living testament of faith and a beacon of unity for our children, grandchildren, and beyond and a lasting symbol of Jewish pride, heritage, and continuity in West Palm Beach and throughout Palm Beach County. This unique project includes opportunities to dedicate portions of the Haftarot with personalized inscriptions, a once-in-a-century opportunity to have your name and message inscribed into the holy Sefer Haftarah Scroll forever. Dedication opportunities include Weekly Haftarah, High Holy Day and Festival portions with dedications at the letter, word, sentence, or paragraph level with special sponsorships available for the Yad, Belt, Rimonim, Etz Hayim, and the Sefer Haftorah Scroll Cover.

A hearty Kol HaKavod to Bob Finkelstein, Moshe Adler, Sol Beck, Jack Meyer, Rabbi Alan Bell and the entire Temple Beth El Men’s Club for planning an epic Men’s Club Shabbat weekend.
