An important message from David Yellin, Florida Region FJMC 5785 Yellow Candle™ Chair
“Gentleman,
As International Holocaust Remembrance Day approaches 1/27/2025, we Continue to keep Israel in our hearts and minds and hold the memories of do many who were murdered on Shmini Atzeret/Simchat Torah 2023. We stand in solidarity with those who have been kidnapped and their families and pray for their safe return and redemption. Our prayers are with the brave defenders in the IDF, Israel’s security forces, and first responders.
Anti-semitism remains a persistent issue, and like a virus, it doesn’t go away. We must figure out how to vaccinate against it. Once a year, we pause and realize that the holocaust must not be forgotten. We often see survivors in shul, though their numbers are dwindling. The next generation will not have the same opportunities to hear their experience. There is a real danger of forgetting the profound reality of the holocaust.
Sharing Light for remembrance is essential. The Tragedy of the holocaust enforces our commitment to prevent similar heinous crimes in the future. The symbol of remembrance using the Shoah Yellow Candle Sharing light through remembrance using the Yellow Candle represents a timeless moment that ensures the past will not be forgotten.
The act of sharing light through lighting will illuminate the truth for all who encounter it. Yom HaShoah is Wednesday, April 23rdrd/26 Nisan 5785. We encourage all clubs to start planning their programs now and take the first steps in ordering/replenishing your supply of Yellow Candles and mailers.
