April 30th will mark the end of a busy year for the Congregation Ohev Shalom Men’s Club of Maitland, Florida. The current board will be discharged and the new board for the 2022-2023 year will soon be installed. Thank you to the board for your service.
Men’s Club President Elliott Davis is proud that the COS Men’s Club has been very active during the past 12 months, despite the restrictions imposed by extraordinary circumstances. “Although most of our monthly board meetings were held on Zoom, we always had an excellent turnout. The board was engaged and willing to support our mission to support our synagogue, with special attention to our youth.”
The past year has seen a full calendar of diverse Men’s Club activities including Men’s Night Out, Men’s Club Shabbat, Super Bowl Raffle and other fundraising events, World Wide Wrap, Yom Hashoah Yellow Candle Program, Save a Life (formerly Br’i’ut), Medical Health Forum, Unite Against Anti Semitism, Recess at Grills Lakeside, COS Pedalers monthly bike ride, Senior Bingo, On Line Bridge, Holiday gift bags for COS senior members, Coffee and juice bars and more.
The COS Men’s Club actively supported both the synagogue and education departments programs with financial contributions. As part of the Giving Tuesday initiative of repairing the Sifrei Torahs, the Men’s Club donated $2,800. We provided scholarships to send COS youth to Camp Ramah and Israel and paid the cost for transportation and registration costs to a USY convention and conference.
As we move into the summer months, the Men’s Club will continue to plan next year’s programs and are looking forward to sharing our mission and goals with our new Rabbi and Cantor. Our club welcomes the return of our current membership and invite COS members to consider joining our Men’s Club. You won’t be disappointed.
