The Congregation B'nai Torah (CBT) Men's Club of Ormond Beach wishes everyone Happy New Year and looks ahead to another exciting year of engaging programs and events.

Congregation B’nai Torah (CBT) of Ormond Beach is a community that will touch your heart, engage your mind and expand your Jewish soul; a friendly congregation that celebrates Shabbat and holidays as a community and shares their love of Judaism and enrich each other’s lives. The CBT Men’s Club helps support the Synagogue through various fundraising & social functions; Men’s Club gives men a chance to build relationships with other men in a healthy, supportive environment, which is a struggle in this era of electronic relationships.

Congregation B’nai Torah Men’s Club received an FJMC Torch Award for Outstanding Programming

2025-2027 Men’s Club President Ken Haberman describes the Congregation B’nai Torah Men’s Club as; “a vibrant group of men dedicated to creating programs that cater to a variety of interests, while fostering camaraderie, friendship, community service, and learning. We strive to make Judaism more meaningful for our members through engaging religious, cultural, and social activities. We warmly invite all congregants to join us throughout the year for fun events, meaningful learning opportunities, and the chance to perform mitzvot together.”

The Congregation B’nai Torah Men’s Club was honored at the recent FJMC International Biennial Convention in Chicago to receive a GOLD FJMC Torch Award for outstanding club programming. Kol HaKavod and Yasher Koach to immediate past CBT Men’s Club President Mark Givarz for an outstanding job as the 2025 FJMC Convention Chair.

In the January 2026 issue of B’nai Torah’s monthly newsletter Torah Times, CBT Men’s Club President Ken Haberman reported:

“Happy New Year everyone! Here’s hoping that 2026 will be fantastic in all ways. The Men’s Club held an activity on December 25th, “Chinese & A Movie.” The Pacific Asian Bistro in The Trails Shopping Center was the first stop for any hungry people at 3 pm for Chinese food. At 5pm, the Jesse Eisenberg’s film “A Real Pain”, was shown in the Synagogue thanks to our AV Guy Mark Givarz and his skills. In the movie, Jesse and Kieran Culkin play estranged cousins, David and Benji, on a difficult Jewish heritage tour in Poland to honor their late Holocaust survivor grandmother. The film explores generational trauma, familial conflict, and modern identity against historical tragedy. It was selected due to the topic and it had great reviews. It is never too late to join the CBT Men’s Club. We currently have 18 members and would always welcome more. We would love to have you. Please contact me with any questions, or to join.”

Looking ahead, the Congregation B’nai Torah Men’s Club will be hosting a “Brunch & Shoot” event on Sunday, January 18th at 9:30 am at the Bunnell Range, 25 Opossum Lane in Bunnell. A delicious brunch will be served. It is very important to RSVP me by January 9th if you plan to attend, due to the food and space requirements. Naomi Beggelman, Operations Manager of the range, is a member of CBT. From the Bunnell Range’s website: The Beggelman Family has been practicing safe marksmanship together for fifteen plus years. In 2013 they found the perfect property to begin a long road of work to have a public gun range in Flagler County. This project was tough to complete but rewarding. Both parents have passed, and their daughter is now the Operations Manager, with their son working behind the scenes. The Bunnell Range is a safe, family oriented, and community friendly space. ALWAYS IN OUR HEARTS: JAY BEGGELMAN 06.26.51 – 12.11.23 AND MARY BEGGELMAN 07.22.56 – 08.17.24. WITHOUT THEIR TENACITY AND PERSEVERANCE, WE WOULD NOT HAVE AN AMAZING FACILITY FOR FAMILIES TO PRACTICE TOGETHER.

On Superbowl Sunday February 8, 2026 at 10am, the CBT Men’s Club will take part in the FJMC World Wide Wrap, an international, coordinated minyan encouraging Jewish men and women to learn about and participate in one of the basic commandments in the Torah: the wrapping of tefillin. It’s a great opportunity to ‘tie one on’! As an added treat, the FJMC Sefer Haftarah scroll will be incorporated into our World Wide Wrap weekend programming. The Scroll will be on display for all to see when it is not in use and our Men’s Club members will be reading parts of the Haftorah directly from the FJMC Sefer Haftorah scroll. This is your opportunity to get up close and personal with the FJMC Sefer Haftarah; be there.

As time marches forward, it is our task to remember and teach about the Shoah. Each year, the Congregation B’nai Torah Men’s Club distributes FJMC Shoah Yellow Candles™ to the CBT family of families. On the night of Yom HaShoah, the candles are lit to shine a light of memory, a light of education, and a light that we will never forget. Participation in this program helps to keep the memory of the Shoah alive and to remember what could happen if we don’t stand up for ourselves. Yom HaShoah begins at sundown Tuesday April 13, 2026 aka 27 Nisan 5786. Please join us in a moment of solidarity for our six million brothers and sisters that were lost in the Shoah.

Stay tuned for more information on upcoming CBT Men’s Club programs and events.
