  • An important message from Art Lashin and Ed Margolis; Chair and Fulfillment Chair of the FJMC Shoah Yellow Candle™ Program

Why Be a Yellow Candle!? It reinforces the importance and our connection with Yellow Candles. Teach your children and community about the Holocaust and antisemitism. Jews worldwide will commemorate Yom HaShoah, the annual Jewish Holocaust Remembrance Day, by lighting candles to remember the lives so tragically cut short by Nazis and their collaborators during the Holocaust. The FJMC  Shoah Yellow Candle Program builds a link in the chain of memory by continuing to memorialize Holocaust victims and stand against Anti-semitism and all forms of hatred against Jews.

Remember! Be a Yellow Candle! On Wednesday Evening, April 23, 2025, Erev Yom HaShoah – Light your Shoah Yellow Candles™ with your family in the evening. Actively teach and remember the innocent lives of the Six-Million Jews and five million others killed by Nazi atrocities. Your candle will shine for at least 24 hours.

Remember. Never Forget. Zachor!

We now offer only yellow polyurethane bags, which aligns with FJMC’s commitment to “environmental sustainability.”

These bags provide the same functionality as traditional plastic bags but are eco-friendly and non-toxic. Our vendor refers to these as “Poly Bags,” we will adopt this terminology moving forward. It is important to note that municipalities across the U.S. and Canada that ban plastic products do not prohibit poly products.

Light a Candle – Preserve a Memory

As time marches forward, it is our task to remember and teach about the Shoah. Each year, the FJMC Shoah Yellow Candle™ Program distributes tens of thousands Yellow Candles™ to Men’s Clubs, Brotherhoods and houses of worship to help remember the Holocaust. Men’s Clubs and other organizations around the world order Yellow Candles™ from the FJMC and distribute them to their membership with a short explanation of the program. On the night of Yom HaShoah, the candles are lit in homes across the globe to shine a light of memory, a light of education, and a light that we will never forget. By participating in this program, you are helping to keep the memory of the Shoah alive and to remember what could happen if we don’t stand up for ourselves.

Yom HaShoah begins at sundown Wednesday April 23, 2025 / 27 Nisan 5785. Florida Region FJMC encourages all Men’s clubs and Brotherhoods to start planning your programs now and take the first step of ordering/replenishing your supply of Yellow Candles™ and mailers at https://yellowcandle.fjmc.org/. We look forward to working with our clubs and assisting in any way possible. Please do not hesitate to reach out and thank you for all the work you are doing to implement this important program. For more information how you can be part of the Yom Hashoah Yellow candle program, please contact Florida Region FJMC 5785 Yellow Candle Chairman David Yellin at Yellin55@aol.com.
